Your descriptions made me feel as if I were there and your photos made it all the more real. Now we must get you to a cattle ranch and into a corral where you walk on "poop" of varing depths from one side to the other and it is no big deal! The "Poop Fields" of Tasmania are FAR cleaner than the sidewalks in NYC! In New York you just don't (often) see what you are actually walking on.
